5 Day Open Water Course - 2 days of pool and theory PLUS
Pro Dive Cairns is recognized world wide as a leader in all aspects of scuba diving education. We offer students a professional and safe learning environment and combine it with spectacular dive locations on the Great Barrier Reef. Our custom built training centre is located in the Cairns city and there is no better place in the world to learn to dive! Water temperatures range from 22°C to 30°C allowing comfortable diving all year round. The PADI 5 day learn to dive course is broken down to two components:
2 days of pool and classroom training 3 day 2 night liveaboard trip to the Outer Great Barrier Reef
You will spend your first two days at our training centre where you will learn the academics of scuba diving & then in the pool where you put these basics into practice. At the end of Day 2 you are invited to attend “Reef Teach” which is a marine biology presentation where you will learn about the Great Barrier Reef (additional cost).
Guests: 32 passengers on the liveaboard. Maximum 20 passenger on Course
Whats Included: 9 Dives, PADI Open Water Certificate, Padi Open Water Manual - (various languages), 2 passport photos, accommodation transfers, all stationary, morning tea and afternoon tea (boat only) all dive equipment, dive computer, log book, all accommodation (twin share) and meals while on board.
Day 3, 4, and 5 are spent onboard one of our Scubapro vessels out on the Great Barrier Reef. Whilst on the reef you take part in your 4 training/qualifying dives, which completes your PADI Open Water Certification. After this you are able to go on and enjoy 5 more dives as a recreational diver, one of which is a night dive guided by your instructor. These dives on the Great Barrier Reef will be truly spectacular and memorable and the highlight of your course. On your return to Cairns, passengers and crew get together in a local restaurant to celebrate the conclusion of your trip.
What to Bring: towels, swimmers, toiletries, comfortable clothing, warmer jacket or jumper for cooler evenings and all in a soft bag.

Day One - Academic & Pool Training

08:45 - Academic training in the classroom
13:00 - Dive medical and lunch break (lunch at own expense)
14:00 - Pool training
17:30 - Complimentary transfer returns you to your accommodation
Day Two - Academic & Pool Training
07:30hrs - Complimentary hotel transfer – available from Cairns City & Northern Beaches accommodation
08:00 - Equipment talk, free time in the pool to try different equipment
09:15 - Pool Training
12:15 - Gearing up at Pro Dive retail shop and opportunity to make any purchases with a 10% discount
13:00 - Lunch break (lunch at own expense)
14:00 - Return to Training Centre for academic training and final exam
17:45 - Complimentary transfer returns you to your accommodation or to Reef Teach (optional)
Day Three - Diving the Outer Great Barrier Reef
05:45hrs - Complimentary hotel transfer – available from Cairns City & Northern Beaches accommodation.
06:15 - Check in at Pro Dive retail shop – corner Shields & Grafton Streets.
07:00 - Depart Cairns for 3 days & 2 nights of fantastic diving/snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. A light breakfast is served onboard.
10:30 - Your first training dive in the ocean
12:00 - Lunch is served - hearty soup with an array of fresh salads, cold meats & bread rolls.
14:30 - Your second training dive
18:00 - Dinner - the menu changes each trip however it will be wholesome, hot & of course lots of it! Then time to relax.
Day Four - Experience further fantastic diving on the Outer Great Barrier Reef
07:00hrs - Your third training dive.
08:00 - Enjoy a hearty breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit, bacon and eggs as well as toast & spreads.
10:30 - Your fourth and final training dive!
12:00 - Lunch on the second day is hot pasta with a variety of fresh salads.
14:30 - You are now a certified diver – your first pleasure dive!
18:00 - A hot dinner is served
19:30 - A guided night dive!
Day Five - Morning dives and return to Cairns
06:30hrs - Your first dive of the day.
07:30 - A hot breakfast accompanied with fresh fruit salad, cereals and toast.
09:00 - After breakfast, the vessel makes its last site of the trip, where you will do your second dive.
11:00 - Your last dive of the trip!
12:00 - A selection of freshly made sandwiches is served before the vessel heads back to Cairns
16:00 - Complimentary accommodation transfers – Cairns City & Northern Beaches.
19:30 - Join fellow passengers & crew at a local restaurant for a farewell dinner! (optional)
Ability to swim - 200m (or 300m with mask, fins and snorkel) and tread water (float) for 10 minutes Minimum age 12 years (no maximum age) Dive medical – which must be in accordance with Australian Standard AS4005-1 (This can be arranged by Pro Dive on day 1 of course - a fee of $60.50 per person is payable direct to the doctor. A history of asthma, diabetes & pregnancy may exclude you from scuba diving)
Extras: AU$60 Reef taxes, port departure tax and admin fees. This fee consists of a $10.50 Government Environmental Charge as well as a Port Departure Tax and administration charges. This charge is applicable to all passengers travelling out on the 3 Day 2 Night Liveaboard Dive trip and all Dive Courses combining the 3 Day trip.
Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. Please make your way to the Retail Shop on the Corner of Grafton & Shields St the day prior to the course to complete the statement. You will be required to obtain a Dive Medical if you answer “Yes” to any of the questions on the medical statement.
